From these definitions I think that in a way emotion is linked with reason, with the definition of reason the noun. I think that emotion can be the mental power for us to act and the stronger one as well. In my opinion emotion is so much more powerful than reason as emotion can overtake you and drive you to do things that even though by reasoning you would normally go against.
There is a quote in the text book by Antonio Damasio saying ‘cool-headed people have prefrontal damage’. This just shows how much emotion and the varieties in emotion are meant to change us.
Between reason and emotion, I would vote emotion as being the more valuable/special and reason less so because to me, sometimes reason is just based on facts that other people have come up with and just reproduced knowledge and intelligence but emotion is more real, more personal. When given a specific fact and asked to reason nearly everyone could come up with the same answer but when given a picture, the amount of different ways people can respond to it and feel about it is infinate. Emotion in my opinion is to an extent what makes us unique, what shapes our character and is what makes us who we are as individuals.
